Air Canada Park Redevelopment

A vibrant renewal for Air Canada Park, rooted in community and storytelling
Service:
Urban Design + Placemaking
Location:
Winnipeg

Situated in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, Air Canada “Window” Park is undergoing a significant transformation. Inspired by stories of Turtle Island and shaped through meaningful community engagement, this project represents the efforts of an interdisciplinary design team, with guidance from Indigenous elders, knowledge keepers, local advocates, and partners including the City and the Downtown BIZ.

A welcoming, inclusive gathering place for connection, reflection, and celebration, the reimagined park accommodates a range of uses, responding to evolving community needs and local programming. Unobstructed sight lines through the trees across the park to various spaces of sun and shade promotes spontaneous gatherings for friends, families, workers, visitors, and tourists. Tiered seating, diverse native planting, and a perimeter arbour embrace the park while the public art and mature trees remain as familiar core features.
