Kevin Walters Plaza Opening

SMM celebrated the opening of Kevin Walters Plaza (formerly Odeon Plaza) at the end of June, designed as a flexible gathering space supporting everyday downtown life, performances and community events.

In collaboration with the City of Winnipeg, Downtown Biz, and True North, and funding from the Downtown Recovery Fund, the Plaza features a scarlet-red ribbon weaving planting walls together in tribute to our historic theatre district. Our team worked with the Winnipeg Arts Council and local artist Frederick Spence to integrate the new sculpture titled “Gather Your Heart” celebrating of the convergence of Anishinaabe and Western musical culture, within the plaza.
